What Is Cetus GPS?

Cetus GPS for Palm OS is the Swiss Army Knife of GPS tracking and field data collection. It is intended for use by GIS surveyors, scientists, explorers and GPS enthusiasts who need to extend the features of their standard GPS equipment.

Navigation assistant The navigation assistant provides instant access to your current position, course, speed, altitude, time and statistical information. The navigation assistant is a valuable supplement to the map and compass when driving, cycling or hiking in the outback.

Position databases A position database contains a set of positions each including a geographical location along with a description and data accuracy information. You can add new positions to the database and edit, delete, copy or export existing positions. Position accuracy is easily improved by using the averaging feature. The position databases are suitable for GIS field data collection.

Track logger The track logger stores position, altitude, speed, course, time and data accuracy information at a specified time interval or based on movements. It provides a unique opportunity of overlaying tracks on existing maps, calculating statistical data or reviewing interesting events of for instance a flight, a sail or a drive.

Data analysis and conversion If your favorite GPS data analysis or conversion software does not support the Cetus GPS track or position database format, you may convert the data to the GPX format, a standard text format or one of many other formats supported by both Cetus GPS utilities available for most computer platforms and third party software.

Beta versions :

Beta version supports serial, infrared, Bluetooth GPS receivers as well as integrated ones like the Garmin iQue 3600. It also supports CompactFlash GPS receivers, which can be used with the Clié NX60, NX70V, and NZ90 via the CFutil software driver. Please note that the MathLib library must be installed on the PDA before using Cetus GPS.
