Oicho Stocks (おいちょ株) is a compact, offline market viewer for classic Palm OS handhelds. Its name and turnip icon play on the Japanese word kabu: both a stock and, with a different kanji, a turnip.

The Palm application keeps its market database locally, so opening a list or chart is immediate and does not require a network connection on the handheld. The standard catalog covers 40 series in five groups: equity indexes, foreign exchange, U.S. yields and fixed-term VIX indexes, cryptocurrencies, and commodities.

• No registration code or external Palm libraries required

The VIX panel displays fixed-term volatility indexes. It is not a VIX futures price curve or a futures-expiration curve.

Two Palm builds are provided. The JP build uses the launcher name おいちょ株 and Japanese interface text on compatible Japanese systems. The EN build uses OichoKabu in the launcher and an English interface.

The optional, self-contained Oicho Stocks Updater for 64-bit Windows retrieves and validates fresh data, then queues one database for the selected Palm Desktop users. It can update at Windows logon and approximately every four hours. The next ordinary HotSync transfers the database to the Palm; the updater does not start HotSync itself. Python is not required on the user's PC.

The production updater does not use yfinance. Its standard catalog retrieves 36 series directly from the Yahoo Finance chart endpoint and four VIX-family series from official Cboe daily CSV files. Each user's PC makes those requests for that user's own Palm. Retrieved market data and a prebuilt market database are not included in the release files.

The Yahoo chart endpoint is not a documented, stability-guaranteed API, and Yahoo Finance information is subject to Yahoo's terms and no-redistribution notice. Install one PRC and launch it once. For fresh data, unpack the Windows x64 package, run MarketUpdater.exe, select one or more Palm Desktop users, and perform a normal HotSync after a successful update.

The JP and EN PRCs differ only in launcher and interface language; do not install both on the same Palm because they share the same application identity.
