About this project

This project has born from the need to transfer all phone data (call log and SMS) from a Treo or Centro device to a personal computer in readable form. Treodesktop is a desktop application capable of understanding, importing and making available any type of phone data from any PalmOS Treo or Centro smartphone as well as any generic PalmOS device (Lifedrive, Tungsten, Z22, Zire, etc...) running the standard PalmOS Messages application. This software bridges the gap in the Palm Desktop built-in software which only provides a phone data backup, with no possibility of reading and storing the information. Using Treodesktop you can protect your personal data: memorable text conversations or business related information, as well as your whole call log, will not ever be lost.

Why should I use Treodesktop?

-Your phone data will always be available on your desktop, even if you have deleted any old data from the Treo, or your Treo itself automatically deleted older messages -You can dramatically improve the performance of the Messages application of your Treo by backing up your messages using Treodesktop, then deleting the old messages on your Treo -Your data can be exported to a plain text file or RTF file, for further processing -You have the ability to rebuild a Treo messages database, protecting your data against loss due to database corruption or accidental deletion

How it works

First of all, it must be clarified that Treodesktop is an importing tool, and not a conduit! To import data, you just need to run Treodesktop after syncing your Treo. Immediately all data will be available and saved in a local database*. Nothing complicated! The only precaution you should take is NOT TO DELETE any phone data on your Treo until it has been successfully transferred to Treodesktop. By following this one precaution, no data should ever be lost.
