Thank you for taking a look at Vehicle Log. MAINTENANCE ALERTS (Registered feature) When you start Vehicle Log, the program will search the Database to see if any Maintenance Event Alerts have been triggered. If this occurs a pop-up will show the vehicle, event and what caused the trigger (Date vs. Odometer). In addition, the pop-up includes three buttons for user response, they are labeled "Clear", "Later" and "Skip Checks". * The "Clear" button will clear the Alert flag in the database for this event. Once the flag is cleared, you will not be reminded of this Alert in the future, this should only be done AFTER you have performed the needed maintenance. * The "Later" button will skip over this event. * The final button, "Skip Checks", will abort all Alert checking (until the next time you run Vehicle Log) so that you can immediately perform your data entry. NOTE: This button does not affect the Alert flag in the database. (After tapping on either "Clear" or "Later" the program will continue searching for additional Alerts.) After checking for Maintenance Alerts, you will be sent to the Fueling Event entry screen. FUELING EVENT You must select a Vehicle and enter the Odometer, Date (default today), Gallons purchased and Dollars. If this is not a complete fill, check the "Partial fill" box so that the mpg calculations are adjusted. Tapping on the SAVE button stores the data and moves you to the Activity screen. MAINTENANCE EVENT The Maintenance Event screen requires you to select a Vehicle, Maintenance Type and Date (default today) and the Odometer at which the service was performed. Tapping on the SAVE button stores the data and moves you to the Activity screen. ACTIVITY LIST The Activity screen shows all events for the current vehicle selected (or All vehicles) sorted by date. The last column displayed indicated the Miles Per Gallon (per fueling) if one vehicle is selected or the first few characters of the vehicle if All vehicles are selected. If you tap on an item, you will be transfered to the appropriate entry screen to edit the selected event. Database Exportation (Registered feature) From the Options menu, select "Export Database". This will cause Vehicle Log to export the entire Activity List (based upon the current vehicle selected) to the Memo Pad is CSV format. Once you perform a HotSync, this data can be taken from the Palm Desktop software and saved as a ".csv" file to be loaded into a spreadsheet program. MAINTENANCE EVENT LIST This screen is accessed via the menu on the Maintenance Event entry screen and lists the currently defined Maintenance Event types. If you tap on one of the items in the list you will be transfered to the Maintenance Event Definition screen to edit the event. MAINTENANCE EVENT DEF. This screen allows you to define/modify a Maintenance Event. This is done by entering a Name for the event and selecting whether an alert should be generated based on days and/or miles. An example of this would be to have Vehicle Log notify you when 90 days or 3000 miles have passed since the last Oil Change. PREFERENCES You may select the method with which fuel efficiency is calculated. The choices are Miles Per Gallon and Liters per 100 kilometers. PENDING ALERTS (Registered feature) To show all pending alerts (triggered or not), tap on the "Alerts" button from the Activity List page. This will show a list of all pending alerts (based upon the current vehicle selected). If an alert is already triggered the item will be boldface in the list. Tapping on an item will bring you to the "Alert Details" screen. This screen shows the Vehicle Name, Maintenance Event Name and the date and odometer values showing when the event was performed and when the alert expires. Tapping on the "OK" button returns you to the Pending Alerts list, tapping on the "Clear" button will clear the pending flag from the event (thereby removing it from the list) before returning you to the Pending Alerts list. NOTE: Tapping on Clear, will cause this event to NOT generate a pop-up when it expires. SHAREWARE As of version 2.0, Vehicle Log is a Shareware application. A new user is given 120 days to evaluate Vehicle Log. During this time period the software is fully functional. After the evaluation period expires, database exportation and all Maintenance Alert related features are disabled.
