DARKSLIDE 0.1 - FILM ROLLS AND FRAME NOTES
For NS Basic/Palm 6.0; intended for Palm Tungsten E2.

CONTENTS AND BUILD
Keep Darkslide.prj, DarkslideCode.cod, all eight supplied BMP pictures together. The BMP files supply the Palm launcher
icon family and are required when compiling the project.
The PNG previews are optional and do not need to be installed.
Copy the whole folder to your T42, open Darkslide.prj, and compile (F5).
Use Tools > Options > Compile/Download: Compile into Fat App ON,
Debug Mode OFF. Install the resulting Darkslide.prc with Palm Desktop's
Install Tool / Quick Install and HotSync, to internal handheld memory.
Alternatively use Run > HotSync after compiling. A Fat App embeds the
NS Basic runtime. No external shared libraries are required.
The compiler normally writes the PRC to NS Basic's Download folder.
This package is SOURCE; no compiled PRC is included. Compile and test
in your emulator, then on the E2 with disposable entries first.

NEW ROLL
Tap New Roll. Give it a name or reference, such as Roll 001 - Coast.
Enter film stock and camera. ISO/EI is the exposure index you shoot at,
e.g. 400 for Portra 400, or 200 if you rate it at 200.
Loaded is an optional text date, preferably YYYY-MM-DD. It is not parsed
or automatically filled from the Palm clock.
Frames is the expected capacity; it defaults to 36 but is editable 1-999.
Use the Status dropdown: Loaded, Finished, Sent to lab, Returned, Scanned,
or Organized. Tap the arrow beside the CURRENT status to open the menu.
Scanned means you have the digital files from the lab or your own scanner;
Organized means the scans/negatives have been filed. These are manual
status labels, not file transfers or synchronization.
Roll Notes holds lab details, processing instructions, scan references,
and things to remember. Back keeps the notes in the current edit.
Save commits the roll. Cancel discards changes since its last save.

FRAME LOG
The Frames BUTTON saves the roll details before opening the frame log.
This is separate from the Frames FIELD, which holds expected capacity.
Tap Add. The suggested number follows the highest recorded frame number
on this roll, rather than the number of records. You can change it.
Shutter, f/ and +/- EV are text: e.g. 1/125, 5.6, +1. Blank is allowed.
Place records a location or scene. Frame Notes holds subject, light,
lens, focus, and other observations. Back, then Save commits the frame.
Duplicate frame numbers on one roll are rejected; different rolls may
use the same number. You may record more frames than expected capacity.
Numbering is limited to 1-999. There are no automatic exposure calculations.
Each frame is saved separately. Roll returns to its saved roll details.

FIND AND FILTER
Find + Go searches roll name, film stock and camera, ignoring case.
Show filters by roll status. All clears search and status filtering.
Rolls and frames display in creation order, 50 records per page; arrows
appear only when another page exists. Frame numbers remain editable.

DELETING AND BACKUP
Deleting a frame asks for confirmation. A roll can only be deleted when
it has no frame records, avoiding accidental loss of an entire frame log.
Keep Returned rolls as your archive, or delete their frames individually
before deleting an unwanted roll.
Save before leaving the application; unsaved edits are not recovered.
Back up BOTH Darkslide-Rolls-v1 and Darkslide-Frames-v1 after HotSync.
Verify both database files actually appear in your Palm user's Backup
folder. A source file or PRC alone does not contain your entries.
Do not delete the Palm application before updating; the launcher may
also remove associated databases. Bookcase uses different databases and
a different creator ID; the apps are independent.

LIMITS
Roll name 80 characters; film/camera 60 each; ISO/EI 5; date 10;
roll notes 2,000; place 100; shutter 16; f/ and compensation 12 each;
frame notes 1,500. No photo storage, GPS, timer or CSV export in this build.
The status and expected-capacity fields are manual records.

FIRST TEST
Create two rolls and add frame 1 to each. Give one frame a review note
and exposure settings; save, close the app, reopen and verify them.
Try adding frame 1 again on the same roll: it should be rejected.
Change a roll's status and test the Show filter. Test note edits, Cancel,
frame deletion, and the protection against deleting a roll with frames.
Check the custom film-cartridge icon in the Palm launcher's icon and list
views. The icon and application still require actual NS Basic compilation
and emulator/device testing, which are not available here.

ICON
Film-cartridge artwork was generated using the built-in image generator,
then exported at native Palm launcher sizes. The project embeds normal
and list-view icons; the PNG alone is not used by the Palm launcher.
