---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Black Jack ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- INSTALLATION ============ Black Jack is designed for the Palm Computing Platform and should be installed according to the instructions provided by the handheld manufacturer. Black Jack supports both black & white and color display mode. The appropriate display mode will be used automatically. REQUIREMENTS ============ - Palm(tm) Compatible Handheld running Palm OS 2.0 or greater. INFORMATION =========== This game is a simple Black Jack game that I originally made to get to know PalmOS development better. It's made available as freeware. Please visit this website for more information and possible updates: http://www.stefan-pettersson.nu/ Author: Stefan Pettersson (stefpet@algonet.se) INSTRUCTIONS ============ The main objective of the game is to get as close to 21 without going over while still beating the dealer's hand. Face cards are valued at 10 while ace is valued either 1 or 11 at the players discretion. A hand containing an ace valued 11 is considered "soft". A "Black Jack" hand is two card valued 21 together. When the player has finished the dealer will turn over his first card. If his hand is 16 or under, the dealer must take another card. Hit - Get another card. Stand - Player is satisfied with the hand, no more cards. Double - After being dealt the first two cards, the player may double the initial wager. Only one more card is dealt when doubling. Split - If the first two cards has the same value they may be split. You will now be playing 2 separate hands, each starting with one of the two split cards. A new bet equal to the initial bet is placed when splitting. Insurance - If the dealer's first card is an ace (and therefore likely to get a black jack) the player is offered insurance. Insurance cost half the amount of the initial bet. If the dealer has a black jack the user gets his/her original bet back. If the dealer has no black jack the insurance is lost and the hand is played as usual. VERSION HISTORY =============== v1.0 (2003-05-31) - Initial version.
